Sheirl Fletcher US Senate West Virginia Democrat

Sheirl Fletcher is committed to...  Our Veterans, Active Service Personnel and National Security

A personal message from Sheirl Fletcher on the War on Terror:

Like most Americans I too want to see an end to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But to set a timetable for complete withdrawal, before we achieve victory over Al-Qaeda and other terrorist groups, I believe could result in serious consequences to the security of our nation and horrific consequences for the people of Iraq.

As your senator, my greatest responsibility is to ensure the safety of every man, woman and child of this country -- a responsibility I will not take lightly. My son is a corporal in the Marine Corps and he served 7 months in al-Anbar province of Iraq, a hotbed of terrorist activity. He is also a Purple Heart recipient so, as a parent, I know the dangers and the risks of war.

But as your senator, my decisions on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan will be made after careful consultations with the military, intelligence professionals, government officials and my senate colleagues, not with political strategists. I pledge to never play politics with our national security or with the lives of our sons and daughters who so bravely serve in the military.

Veterans and Active Service Personnel

I believe that our country owes the greatest debt to the men and women in uniform who have honorably served to defend our country and protect our freedoms. If elected to the U.S. Senate I pledge to support the interests of our veterans, active military, reservists, National Guard and their families. As the mother of a U.S. Marine I understand and can relate to the health care, employment and educational needs of our veterans and service personnel.

Sheirl Fletcher supports:

  • Full funding of veterans' health care and veterans' right to obtain full and clear explanation of all benefits and assistance in getting those benefits.
  • Veterans' right to access treatment facilities for traumatic brain injuries and PTSD.
  • The right to have all medical claims processed in a timely manner.
  • The right of National Guard and Reservists, called to active duty, to receive the same benefits as active duty veterans.
  • The right of disabled veterans to receive both their military retirement and VA compensation.
  • A GI bill that eliminates the 10-year limitation and provides full tuition, books, fees, and living expenses at any college or university to which the veteran is accepted.
As your senator I will work tirelessly to see that our veterans and service personnel receive the benefits they have so rightfully earned.

On May 13th, please vote for Sheirl Fletcher -- for United States Senate.

She's Committed to West Virginia!
